Hi. I'm sorry if this is a repeat post, but I haven't been on here in a while. I just purchased a drum rack. It is a Pearl Icon Rack DR-503. I bought it used off of a craigslist, and I'm unsure about the clamps on it. It came with 4 clamps used obviously for toms. However I am interested in buying clamps for cymbals. I'm trying to cut down on the number of stands, and also trying to allow for easy travel when doing gigs.

To my question.

I think I need a Pearl PCX100 pipe clamp, but on musiciansfriend they don't explain to much about this piece (ie: what size of pipe fits in this attachment). Basically I need a lot of help with this new fun tool. I need to know where to get the attachments for this, and what attachments work best. Can anybody help me out?!??!!?

Ok these clamps fit most standard cymbal arms, what you need to do is, take off the plastic cap on the vertical bars of the rack, put these babies on, and then lower your cymbal stand into the bar. Then tighten the clamp and your set.

Lots of people complain about them because they say the boom arm has to be too high and is wobbly, but they dont take off that plastic cap.

I think the clamp can comfortably hold the standard 7/8" tube.

I finally got these, and you're right. I think there is a problem with keeping them tight on the top of the pole's, but I easily fixed that with some spare wing nut things I had.

Thanks!

I have the same rack I think, I haven't had any problems with cymbal stands, but what I found is that the Icon rack only fits pearl hardware. I once tried to fit a sonor stand and a premier stand in there, but it would'nt fit.

In hind sight I wish I'd have gone with the Gibralter rack, which I believe to be universal. The Icon rack is a good rack nontheless....If you dont mind being loyal to pearl!

umm, if you have a pearl rack, and need your cymbal stands to fit use some of the silver lining tubing, it will squueze in there and will keep it from slipping
the gibralter booms are thick enough that they fit into like any clamp so i would start getting those from now on there $20
