I was just wondering what sticks you guys use. I have used mostly Vic Firth and Zildjian in the past, but have most recently been using Regal Tip. After getting used to the extreme lacquer finish, they are extremely comfortable and have a great balance. I use the Jeff Hamilton signature brushes, also from Regal Tip.

Vic Firth 5A and 5B, wood and nylon tips, depending on the situation.

I also use Pro-Mark multi-rods.

Vic Firth 5B, wood and nylon tip (of the two I prefer nylon though)
Pro-Mark 5B Millenium II's

Hickory is my first choice.

I'm currently using a pair of carbosticks. There super light, and give the stick definition on the ride that I crave. There pretty sweet.

I use Travis Barker's sticks right now( I like the tip and the quick taper). But I'm starting to get into the Vic Firth American Sound 5B's.

Yeah, the American Sound Hickories are great sticks. I love the rounded tips.

I've become quite fond of the Vic Firth Peter Erskine Ride stick. It's got a good balance, the tip holds up quite well, and it has a beautiful ride sound. Great all-around stick, in my opinion.

Approximately what diameter are these sticks, Sauren? Like, what are they equal to, roughly? Also, what shape is the tip, what are they made of, and are they lacquered or not? Basically, tell me all about them. Smile

I don't like lacquered sticks, generally.

http://www.vicfirth.com/product/individualsticks/SPE.html should give you the size specs. I'm not sure where I'd place it exactly in terms of stick comparison....

I used the Peter Erskine Ride Stick for awhile. I found it to be a bit too heavy for me, which is why I have since switched.

I'm currently using the vic firth jack de johnette signature sticks.

They are slightly longer than normal sticks of their weight, which I find, gives them a beautiful balance.

Also the tip has a lovely sound on cymbals- it really has nice definition for ride pattern. Worth checking out if you play jazz.

I looked at those sticks, and the "original" model really looks more interesting to me than his "ride" model. I love that little beaded tip on the original model. It seems that it might provide some really great cymbal and snare articulation. Both kinds look like good sticks, though.

The original Peter Erskine tip does sound great on cymbals, but it wears down very quickly. He actually has three signature models. There is the ride stick and the original, but made with two different woods.
