| I have major problems with my kick drum running away on me when playing live. Same goes for my snare. Any suggestions other than duct tape?... (that's what I do now... it works, but it's a pain to do before every show) |

The easiest solution is to get a rug. Doesn't have to be anything high quality, just enough for the spurrs of the kick to grip on to. With some rubber backing, it should remain stationary.
hope this helps! |

Go by Wal-Mart and look for the 5' x 8' rug. They cost about $20.00. I have a grey one that I've marked around the feet of all my cymbal stands with a red marker, and my drums (floor tom, kick feet snare stand ect.) with a black marker. Now I set my kit up in the same position everytime AND, if I'm running late and the other guys have to set up my kit, it's all laid out on the rug! |

| You my friend are a genuis!!! It is people like you who change the world by pointing out obvious things like that to stupid people like me! You could go a step further and use coloured Duct tape instead of permanent markers!! It's a foolproof plan!! I REALLY don't like other people setting up my drums though. If i ever got famous, I don't know if I'd want a drum tech tuning and setting up my drums, as much as I hate tuning, I'd rather do it myself and make the drums sound exactly like I wanted them to. Anyone on this board have a drum tech? If you do can you give me some insight on how they change the dynamics of playing gigs? |

Drum Techs? LOL Shoot Saurencaerthai! I was about to ask you if I could be YOUR drum tech! LOL
I schlep my own gear 99% of the time. There are RARE occasions when one of the other band members may have to set up for me because I can't get off work in time. Sometimes my son Chris will do the honors in a pinch. But no, no techs for me!

I appreciate you saying that. I would love to agree with you BUT! I got that idea from my friend Jim Petit. An accomplished drummer and owner of the Memphis Drum Shop in Memphis Tennessee. He's a great guy and teacher. All credit for that idea goes to him! But I was glad to share it with you.

A great way to call for members to help unload your drums from the car:
(to quote my grandfather)
"I need someone with a strong back and a weak mind!"
Sorry, I just thought you might find that amusing! |

| You can improve your rug by screwing a small block of wood to it in from of your bass drum. Keeps even the hardest hitter from having to pull his kit back! (I don't have great spurs on my BD, and my pedal is an old Camco with no spurs at all). |
