My dad knows a guy who owns a music store. Anyway, he has a lot of off brand name drum sets (that's where I got my piece of crap Argent drum set).
And he told about basix. Are they good? Anyone own some, preferably the custom series? Keep in mind that Bernard Purdie uses them.

Hmm, that's a fairly obscure brand, and I'd be willing to bet that most of us simply don't know anything about them. Have you checked out their web site?

Man I hate the look of those both tube mount system. Mad

For same price, remember you have two big hole in the BD instead on one (like TAMA - YAMAHA) or none for some (As MAPEX M birch and Pro M).

Dont know and never heard about the brand but they are probably made in Taiwan or China...

799.99 $ MSRP - How much is the dealer price ?

Also - I prefer size on basixdrums.net than those on basixpercussion.com

I have a friend in Germany who owns a drumstore, and he told me they are nice sounding drums. They are not high end but good solid drums.
He talkes especially about the ones Danny Gottlieb and Bernard "Pretty" Purdie endorse. That model are still relatively inexpensive but a good midrange set, a definite buy if you on a budget.
My friend sells about 150 drumsets of those a year, just for comparison he sells about 1-2 DW's a year.

if u go to drummeressentials.com, the drummer sometimes uses the drum, but u gotta pay for the videos, but its like 9.99, but anyway, the bass just sounds a little weird, ill try to post a clip of it later, if thats ok.

i have a danny gottlieb drumkit, and it is FREAKIN AWESOME!!!! it has a really punchy 18x22 bass drum, a 12 ply snare, compact tom sizes, and pretty tough hardware. these are not cheap quality drums. the name kinda throws you off, but buy the custom series, because this kit ROCKS, just remember to change the heads

Have u tried the other drums? I say if it looks cheap in ANY way dont get it. Go for something higher end. Or at least look forward to getting new hardware when u buy the kit. And then Most likley getting a kit down the road thats a lower end model of a name brand.

i am telling you THESE AREN'T CHEAP. if i am seing price tags for 600 euro's, than these things aren't cheap. sure their lower end stuf might be, but the custom series is Frickin sweet. my 12 ply gottlieb snare is "the" best snare i have ever played. the custom series comes standard with an 18x22, and this thing has a brutal punch. the toms are pretty good for the sizes, i have never used 7x10, and 8x12's before, but for such a small depth, they produce a killer sound, the 14x14 is the best sounding floor tom i have played on. the name fooled me too, until i sat down and played it. i have played on a custom kit, at a gig, and it sounded horrible compared to this, and that had a 22x22, and a 6x13 porkpie. no comparrison, i am thinking about getting another one. The custom series is definately high end. take my word for it.

i tried one of these customs at a guitar center and it sounds great. it's full birch and compared to my gretsch catalina it's pretty much the same thing. concept series is not bad, but i don't like those badges that say "basix". they're just a way too large. but the custom series looks nice. just look at this fade... this is 8×8 tom.

Cut that, you're starting to sound like a troll.
