Hello,

I'm about to trigger my kick drum and need that typical "death metal" kick sound... Before buying any sample libraries etc., I thought I'd ask here if anyone has pointers to where to get it (which library, maybe a free sample, or someone could upload one...)

Settings of eq / compressors and so on for specific samples are welcome, too.

Thanks!

Vinnies kicks arent samples. He glues a silver dollar to the kick and uses wooden beaters. You set your eq with all highs and lows no mids, and compress the hell out of it.

Wouldn't that destroy the head in a matter of hours? I mean we're talking some serious abuse here (metal + wood, no felt)...

Since I really wouldn't like to destroy my heads all that often, I'll settle for a sample of something like that, or even more death-metal like.

Put a clicker pad on your bass head and then glue the silver dollars on it should be good cuz it doesnt come derrectly into contact with the head.

What setup do you have now? Do you have the ability to use a computer for the triggered sound?

Check out these products:

www.drumagog.com - Could use this to trigger any sound on your kit. Perhaps you want your kick to sound like a frog fart.

www.toontrack.com (DFHS works great and has 35GB of samples to choose from)
