|
|
Hello.
Okay, I have been playing for a week, every day. Practicing my rudiments real hard. Reading lots of music. Playing along to my favorite songs, for example, Toxicity by System of a Down, At The drive in, etc.
Alright, now I want to buy a double pedal, My choices are a Giblartar Avengar I or a DW DP402.
I am noticing that my Pearl P100 pedal is not responding to my hability. It squeeks when I pracitce at a tempo of 160bpm.
I am also have a Crash/Ride, and I'm wondering, should I purchase the ride first, then get a better simple pedal. And wait for a year to get a doublebass (expecting I master the simple pedal)
What do you think? |

wait before you get a double bass. a crash ride just wont cut it for now. Plus, if you get a double bass, you'll be too busy learning it that you wont developt the rest of your drum kit. I had this same crisis and i went with the cymbals. wait till you develop your foot, then move on to a double bass _________________

| I agree with Milkman, get a new ride first. It will open up some of your options when playing and give you some more sounds to work with. As well, you can never work on your single kick playing too much! |

i was having this same problem when i first got my p-100. take some lubricating oil and oil up the pivot points. that did it for me _________________ I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, the dreams in which im dying are the best i've ever had. |

yes, the 2 #1 rules and products:
1) if it moves and its not supposed to, use duct tape
2) if it doesn't move and its supposed to, use wd40 _________________

my dads philosophy is "if it can't be fixed with duct tape, wd40, or a hammer it can't be fixed" :p _________________ I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, the dreams in which im dying are the best i've ever had. |

haha, many other people feel my pain. I decided to get both (Actually i got a great deal on cymbals so i have enough money to now buy a double bass pedal). I'd say go with cymbals at first, even though a double pedal is tempting too _________________

| adding another cymbal really adds to your sound more than a double pedal can unless you've got a few already. it's better to learn the primary stuff before adding cherries to your playing anyway so add some flexibility first by adding a cymbal. |

| I agree w/ Milkman. Get the ride first. Besides, get really good a the single pedal first. That way you won't learn double pedal technique and never really learn single pedal technique. I was like you when I got my set. I actually bought a double pedal instead of a single. Big mistake. I'm glad I went to a single pedal and practiced technique. |

yeah I agree, definately upgrade your cymbals first. I would actually upgrade you hi-hats or crash first because Paiste Alphas are pretty good cymbals, but ZBTs and B8s are pretty bad. BTW I love
At the drive-in. |
