I'd have to agree with DrumThumpa. I love 2B's. Not just because of the volume. It's really not that much of a pain throwing around a little extra wood, and you get much more bounce out of a weaker stroke, since the sticks have more momentum. So actually, you don't have to hit as hard to get a quick rebound. Heavier sticks make it easier to play each individual stroke faster (if you have good technique that is. If you have to pull up on the stick on the upstroke, then it'd be harder than smaller sticks I'd assume) The only time they fall behind smaller sticks is when your moving the sticks laterally across the set for a fast tom fill or a quick cymbal crash. That problem can be solved by just throwing in a paradiddle to give you some extra time, or just practice with them enough. Right away, it seems harder to use big sticks, but in my opinion once you're used to it, it actually reduces fatigue if you play loud and fast.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the "N" at the end of "5AN" means Nylon tip...

I played the Vater 'Fusion' sticks for 4 years and then the Vater Piccolo and have moved to using the Vic Firth SD2 Bolero. I love the thickness of the stick but yet it doesn't have the added weight being a maple stick. I've played them for 2 years and love them.
