DW "VLT" KIT (FACTORY BUILD PROGESS)

Just wanted to list a few original pictures of my new DW VLT (vertical Low Timbre) kit that is currently in production at DW in Oxnard CA. I have been in contact with Erik (DW's customer service Rep) for awhile now and he has been nice enough to send updates of the progess of the kit as its being made. The kit will be finished and shipped out at the end of this month. The photos show the kit still on the racks with the natural satin oil finish. The shells will next go to edging for bearing edges to be cut than they will drill for all the hardware. After that the kit will be lightly buffed and than the final hardware assemble will take place. As you can see from the pics the kit is in the VLT option with the inner and out plys of wood running vertical instead of horizontal. The shells are all 8 ply without reinforcement hoops. Most DW shells have 6 plys with reinforment hoops installed. No need for this on a slightly thicker shell. I'll try to get some more pics out in a couple of weeks along with the finished kit once it arrives. Thanks for looking!

Just got a few more pics from Erik at DW on the progress of the kit. He mentioned it is in final assembly and should ship out next week. you can see by the pics that the holes for the hardware have been drilled and all bearing edges cut. You can also see the shell for the edge snare with the edges routered to install the brass hoops top and bottom. Also, there is a good pic showing the bass drum hoops. I'll definately have final pics once received. Enjoy!
