I went to a local music store to look at the drum gear. Amidst the newer kits, there was a classic Rogers (late 60's) finished in butcher block. For those of you who are familiar with this, it's a really cool finish.
The kit was a 6-pc kit, and had two kicks. One of the kicks (here is the ruined part) was converted to the mid 70's memriloc hardware. Normally, I like this hardware.
But you never, ever change a collectable kit! He just ruined it's value by not having the correct stuff on it.
Also as a point of interest, the "memriloc" era of Rogers had great hardware, but sadly, the large holes going through the shells dries the tone out and they just don't have the tuning range or tonality of the 60's Rogers. |
