Tama Air Ride Snare Mounting

Can anyone comment on Tama's Air Ride Snare Mounting system????

It looks pretty innovative and continues with Tama's Star-Cast mounting system now on snares. I would love to get one!!!!

Does anyone own or tried it????

I suppose it could have two advantages over the typical "Buck Rodgers" snare stand: First, you would have increased resonance from the snare. Second, it could make mic'ing much easier from the bottom side. It's nice, but I personally will take my regular snare stand.

To be honest, it looks a little gimmicky to me. I know Tama is known for their hardware (among other things), though, so maybe it would work pretty well. I've never tried one, so I can't say. Personally, I don't think resonance from a snare is nearly as big of an issue as it is for any other drum on the kit. If you're the type of player that prefers a dry snare, like many do, then a suspension mounted snare is really rather pointless.

Also, it is considerably more difficult and time consuming to put a snare on or off of that stand than it is from a regular stand. This stand just seems like more trouble than it's worth, but if you're into that kind of thing, I have little doubt that it is made well. I still prefer the regular snare stands, though, and don't see that changing anytime soon.

I agree with bytor, unless your looking for alot of resonance form your snare you don't need a suspinsion mount. I like mine kinda on the dry side.
