Gretsch has discontinued the Catalina Birch line of drums. If you have a set of these drums you have a great kit as I have. I can only hope Gretsch will apply more models, finishes, and setups to the Catalina & Renown Maple series. ….. lets hope! _________________ Now playing Slingerland, Gretsch, & Sonor Drums

I have Remo Emperors and they are very well suited to the birch of the Catalina’s. I have also used pinstripes but I like the more open sound you get with the Emperor heads. I would also suggest Evans G2 heads, very similar to the Emps. _________________ Now playing Slingerland, Gretsch, & Sonor Drums
