what do you like? medium size light weight? small lightweight? big heavyweight?
My personnal favourite is a large stick which is light as possible. I actually like maple sticks. _________________ ***HOOK IN MOUTH!!!***

I have, personally, come to really like the Pro-Mark Japanese Oak sticks. The 5B in particular. I'm going to go see my local music shop to see if they might have a longer version.

My new favorite is the Vater 5A extreme. It's a little longer than a regular 5A, and just plays really nicely. I also fell in love with the Dave Weckl Sig. stick. It's got an awesome feel, light yet still quite balanced. _________________

I've tried maple sticks that I like, as well. The maple Vic Firths feel pretty good to me.

The VF SD4 Combo maple are my current faves. Light, and sound great on cymbals. Not for those who break sticks frequently, though. The maple is very soft.

Are the Danny Carey signatures made of Maple? I'm not sure, because they chip easily.

The Danny Carey sticks are hickory. Maple tends to dent more than chip, owing to it's slightly softer density.

Over time I've developed a taste for a particular kind of stick - fairly long, at least 16" - usually longer, barrel tip or round tip (I tend not to like oval tips - I like a focused drum sound), slightly under .6" in diameter, and with a certain type of shoulder - if I were to put the sticks down on a flat surface and look at the angle between the top of the surface and the shoulder, generally, the smaller the better. I'm not as concerned with the length of the taper as with that angle. To me those sticks feel most comfortable, the best cross between being solid and having a good response. 3As for me, though I'm also looking at Vater Power 5Bs. _________________ If you don't like it, you can just *Golly Gee* off! - Keith Moon's last words

I've come to like Vater 5B's a helluva lot. Nice feel, pretty durable and good grip. _________________ I win. |

the neil peart signature millinium 2's are what i use. the most perfect balance of weight i have ever felt in a stick, and it has just the perfect amount of bounce. so far i havent broken one, but that's not saying much. i've only been playing drums for a week and a half. _________________ my myspace.
