I recently purchased a set of Ludwig Blue/Olive badge drums that are I believe at least 1980, as the serial numbers on the 4 drums all start with 215... and the badges have the rounded corners. The drums are covered in white cortex and are 14 x 22, 9 x 13, 10 x 14, and 16 x 16. When I purchased the drums I was under the impression that they were the infamous 6 - ply "maple." However, these drums have a flat grey paint on the interior, but it's not the speckled granitone stuff. I believe it is factory, as it is a very clean job, with no running or overspray on the bearing edges, no paint on the hardware, etc. They are very heavy and thick shells. The bass drum is obviously 6 plies, but it's a little harder to tell on the other drums. Also, the bass drum has 10 lugs on each side and has large curved spurs, not the straight ones. Thanks for any insight. I know Ludwig mixed and matched hardware and shells and all that jazz around this time, so I may never know the true identity of these drums. Sad

I was wondering if anyone from the other forum was a member here. I figure the more people I ask, the more help I'll get. Smile

I fully understand that. I was just trying to prevent someone from going to the trouble of looking up information that you already had.............

I almost answered you on NSMD then your post showed up on DFO so I took advantage of the help on that site and answered you there...............

Yeah. I guess anyone frequently visiting all these sites will get sick of this post really quick. I did put some pics up on DFO. These sites are just such a great wealth of info and I never even knew they were around!!! I feel pretty out of the loop.

I actually posted on NSMD first but the post didn't seem to really be getting a response. Maybe I'm just being to hasty. My girlfriend's actually getting annoyed cause I've been on these sites all day!!!
