I have a vintage Ludwig Ringo Starr series snare drum and was wondering if anyone knew a head combo. Right now i'm using Remo weather kings and the sound is OK but I was wonding if anyone knew of a combo that might have a little more "POP".
Thanks

| What kind of weatherkings do you have on it? I wouldn't go heavier than an Ambassador if you want pop. |

Ambassator coated on the top and a clear ambassator on the bottom _________________ The Lord delights in the ways of man who's steps he has made firm.

You're not going to get a head with much more pop than that. Maybe try a coated Remo Diplomat on top. Also, experiment with your tuning some (with snares off). Try to find the sweet spot where you get as much resonance as possible.
By the way, how old are the heads? They might just need replaced. |
