Sounds like a better option than what you've been going through lately.

No sh*t? Kellers sound like THAT? Hmmmm....I may have to go custom and save a G. Of course, I'd like a name brand because it's just a peeve I have...I really just don't know anymore. I should just close my eyes and eenie-meenie-minie-moe a list of drum brands. |
Don't get confused now.. dW didn't just use off the shelf keller shells. Those shells were made specifically FOR dW, the exact way, shape, size, bearing, and re-enforcment, that they wanted. They are also timber matched. They won't sound the same. And don't forget DW's awsome looking hardware. _________________

I see. Good lookin' out. I may go to Guitar Center after work today to test out some sets. I hope there's a collectors edition in there.
By the way...there's a clip on drummerworld from a Gerald Heyward and he's playing his DW Collectors. And frankly, the toms sound like dog sh*t. Then you watch Billy Ashbaugh's clip and the kit sounds like God himself made it. (With a little too much warmth for my taste, sorry God)...
I know this has to do with micing and whatnot...but what's up with Gerald's toms? Does a Collectors sound like that without mics???? Hell, I'll keep my Pearl Export if that's the case. |

First off, you are listening to a low quality playback through the internet. Second, recording technique and equipment makes a HUGE difference. Third, What head and how it is tuned makes up 70% of your sound quality. (made up number). I have never heard a properly tuned DW kit sound anything less than godly.
That recording.. sounds like it was made on a boombox. _________________

Brand new it would be more like 7000.00 us dollars, I think I'm maybe wrong... |
definitely wrong. $7000 for a new kit would be a *Motherless Goat* kit, and it would be a sweet finish. you're right about the $2500 range, dblstroke. just keep in mind it's definitely $2500+. |
Unless he was selling cymbals, hardware, pedals, etc etc.. 4 shells will cost you 2000-3000$ |
shells only for $2000-$3000??? you must've gotten ripped, my friend. that or i got a great deal. _________________

I agree with that. I went to my Guitar Center yesterday and tried a DW kit that wasnt even tuned well and it still sounded awsome. _________________ "It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear a fool than instead to open it and remove all doubt"

If you're talking hardware like lugs and rims, DW will charge you a 14% surcharge for gold. It's the same for black or brushed nickel lugs and rims. I bought a 5-piece Collector's series Finishply kit (broken glass) with gold hardware for $4650.00 CND.
In terms of the gold-plated 9000 series stands, I couldn't say. Probably bigger bucks, as there is more gold involved. |
