Ludwig makes pretty good sounding drums. What kind do you have? I've actually been thinking about buying a Ludwig Accent CS custom thats been sitting at the local drum shop to go with my mapex saturns.

I'm also thinking of getting that kit, but the Fusion set 20, 10, 12, 14. Although i'm used to a bigger bass drum, i think going for the smaller size would mean its easier to lug around. Or are there any huge disadvantages i'm missing?

Ludwig's lower end kits are a waste of time.
Like Pearl you're paying for the name, not quality.

Buy with another brand where you get so much more for your money.

Mapex, Tama and Yamaha make such better drums for less, until you get to the really high end kits - and even when you get there, some prefer those brands.

Ludwig have sold out these days, and the classic Ludwig brand is what is carrying them through.

I have a Ludwig LM402 snare drum - John Bonham's snare drum of choice.
It's fantastic - but it was a whopping £375. And that's below retail price.

actually almost all of the ludwigs sound fantasic, im not sure about the lowest end but i have the intermediate and it sounds really good, the whole freaking world doesnt revolve around mapex, and pearl vison and masters sound very good, yamaha drums arent good at all, i play one at school and its terible, tama superstars and starclassics are good but anything else from them is pretty bad.

other one your leaving out is pdp/dw and those are fantasic drums

Another pathetic and childish post from you.

If you read what I actually said, you get better value for money with brands like Mapex, Yamaha and Tama.

You really haven't got a clue have you? Yamaha make FANTASTIC drums.
I'm sure your school kit is wonderfully maintained?

I have actually Owned a Pearl budget kit (the export) along with done many gigs with other drummers Yamahas, Tamas, DWs, Pulses and Ludwigs.

The basis of my post is that you don't get value for money with a lower end Ludwig or Pearl kit, whereas with brands such as Mapex, Yamaha and Tama - you do.

If you insist on being anti-Mapex, you'll never know what it is to own a fantastic brand of drums.

You've got a lot of growing up to do.

And the reason PDP/DW drums aren't in there are for that exact reason.

The value for money isn't very good. They make good drums, but not for value.

It's all about opinion. Some people love DW, and think that they're definitely the best, even considering the cost. PDP makes some pretty good drums in my opinion, though I hear that they're not very consistent in their quality of craftsmanship. I'm not very familiar with low end ludwig, so any opinions are appreciated about them, though i have to say i liked the way it sounded at the store.

so ur going to play the age card, whatever, i never said i hate you but you have different views than i do and you leaving because of someone is childish,
mapex i like it but its not the best thing in the world and to come into a ludwig fourum and diss on them isnt cool, i dont go into the mapex one and diss on it, i like mapex, played on some and they sound nice but i like others too.
so thats fine if your going to leave over a "child"

Maybe you could go deeper in the Low-end, mid-end speaking. I really don't know what you mean, is the Ludwig CS Custom Elite low-end?
