If any of you have time I just have a few things im curious about since im just starting drums.
1.) Why do a lot of drummers only have 1 rack tom (I realize the latin thing), but even for rock drumming?
2.) Any tricks to doing a cymbal roll? Mine sound horrid and choppy.
3.) (This one is common) My toms here at home to practice on are very ringy. I would like just a tighter sound for home practice to not disturb anyone. What's the best way to muffle (with common home products)?
4.) What reserve price would you set on a decent tuned 5 piece CB700 set without cymbals with remo heads (snare reso head has a rip and missing mid tom connecter piece)?
5.) Our church needs another crash cymbal to mix in with a Zildjian Avedis Thin Crash... any suggestions? |

| as far as 5) goes i have a K dark crash with my avedis thin. If you like a contrast of light and dark, go with that. But another A of different size would do the trick if not. Make sure you TRY before you BUY! |

1) I can't speak for all rock drummers but I use 2 floor toms because they have a deeper tone and are a little more bassy
2) try using the broad side of the stick against the edge of the cymbal but use caution because if you play to hard you can crack the cymbal (by the way this isn't proper technique but it works)
3) try using weather stripping (like you buy at ace hardware for doors and windows) i use the grey 1/2 inch kind thats sticky on one side. it works really well and is a cheap alternative to the expensive remo muffles
4) I'd need to see a pic. I have an old CB700 international set that I use for gigs. they're great sets but don't expect to get alot for them.
5) A Custom medium crash (just my suggestion) _________________ The Lord delights in the ways of man who's steps he has made firm.
