|
|
OK, so here`s another double kick question, I presently play an eliminator single, and I`m looking to add a double, I have limited budget, so I was thinking maybe the new Gibratar Intruder direct drive double, it is a bit less expensive as the eliminator, so I guess I`m asking if anyone here has played it or is playing it, and how would it compare to the Pearl?
Thanx in advance Rick _________________ out in the loft |

Not the direct drive, but the strap drive version is NICE. _________________ "One day I feel I'm on top of the world

What the hell????
The Gibraltar pedal IS a real pedal. It's a very nice pedal with the same qualities as the others listed.
Wow. I'm thoroughly insulted.... _________________ "One day I feel I'm on top of the world

Styles, sorry I ment no offence, it`s just that I tend to stay with what I`m familiar with in the long run, unless I could get a chance to play one, and no one here sells gibraltar. _________________ out in the loft |

you dont have to buy an entirely new double pedal. you can get just the slave (left) pedal for what you have now. _________________ my myspace. CLICK IT! |

Yes, that is an option, I`m still not sure which way to go, the local shop has a DW 9000 I might try to negotiate a better price, see if I can get for under 500$ with maybe a trade or something, I`ve played a 9000, it`s a nice pedal.
Though Styles, I may try a gibraltar strap, the prices are reasonable, I did talk to the guys at the local shop, they didn`t disagree, they were more concerned with follow up, they`re saying it`s hard to get service through gibraltar, spare/replacement parts etc?? thats their experiance, I don`t know. _________________ out in the loft |

Gibraltar is EASY to get spare parts for. And it's easy to replace them. My drumshop guy was very knowledgable on the subject. He raved about strap drives. He preferred the eliminator (I didn't) but said the Intruder was as good (I don't need/want 50 thousand settings).
Anyways, my opinion and knowledge. _________________ "One day I feel I'm on top of the world

Hey Styles, I think I may just go for it, I`ve seen them advetised for @ 266$, Not a lot of money really to try something out.
I`ll let you know what I think once I get one, going to have to fine an extra 100bucks first, I`m a bit short, working on putting another kit together. _________________ out in the loft |

| I'd stay away from DW, the foot board has been known to snap in half with those. Personally id go with the pearl eliminator, great pedal, not too expensive. I played on the gibraltar intruders (direct drive) and eliminators right next to eachother, and i liked the eliminator a lot more. The intruders just felt weird to me, but this might have just been because I'm not used to direct drive. It felt smooth at first, but as it got to the end of the stroke started to get harder, then just kinda fell the rest of the way? It's kind of hard to explain. Someone please tell me if this is common for those pedals or if maybe it was just adjusted horribly. But like i said, can't really go wrong with the eliminators. |

Hey all, it`s been a while since I posted this, I finally got the intruderII from `world music supply`, with shipping was around 275$.
The kicker is I was sure I clicked on the strap drive version, and low and behold the direct drive arrived!! I call them and they assured me that I ordered the direct and it was the biggest seller, whats that sound like to you`s??.
Anyway, I`ve been playing it, it`s not bad, a little differant feeling but fast and smooth.
I didn`t return it because it took sooooo long for it to arrive, I just settled.
All and all this/these pedals are worth the coin.
Cheers, Rick _________________ out in the loft |

good to hear, shiloh. you should keep harassing them about their little mix up and see if they'll give you free stuff or store credit! _________________
