i picked this up just after the holidays from a craigslister for $400. great for recording band practice, really simple to use. 8 xlr inputs straight to .wav files. either mix onboard, or dump the files into the computer via usb and mix using your own software, which is what i'm doing. the preamps aren't that great, but what were you expecting for this price range? i'm from the days of the boom box practice tapes, so this is great for me. this is an original song from practice last month i recorded on the d888:

sorry, no bass player in that mix, we're currently looking.

while it can be hard to discern the tone of email/internet comments, i'm pretty sure yours is directed negatively at my bands music. frankly i could care less if you liked the music or not, the point of posting it was to demonstrate the d888's ability to do a decent job of recording live band practice.

Yep, but I have the D3200 Korg and did a demo for our group. All of the songs are one take including the vocals and I was quite pleased with the simultaneous 12 track recording ability. Go to http://www.j4fmusic.com for a sample. The 800 and 3200 series units are quite good at what they do.

but wait.....us DM drummers take that as a compliment!!! ahahah

Thanks for the info on the D888 as well. I'm looking to get some gear for a little home studio I'm working on. Once I get the room squared away and prepped, I'll most definitely look into the D888.
