saw if on a few websites and stuff, and am a bit familar of it.
Stem-cell research
since people like debates i thought this is a pretty good one.
what do you think about that whole situation to help people get better by using fetuses.
i dont seem to have a problem with it as it seems to help alot of people, and i think it is a way of donating your body when you die, but just at a young age.
let the debate begin |

| I've got to say, I'm not sure if this is the best topic to debate. I mean, it's a great topic, yes, but the particulars are very subtle and poorly reported on. |

There are 2 issues as I understand them, and here they are to the best of my knowledge...
1) Most people agree that a fetus aborted or miscarried for "acceptable" reasons - i.e. mother's life or health, etc. then it makes sense to let that fetus to be used for the betterment of human health and cure disease. Proponents leave it at that, but those against make an argument that it becomes an "industry" and creates a demand, which could incent corruption / non-necessary abortion. I think there have been some expose's of this already occuring to some degree.
2) The other issue is that stem cell research is part of bio-engineering, right along with cloning and the slippery slope that goes along with it. Some are against any form of this regardless of the source of the stem cells. We shouldn't be "playing god".
Stem cell researchers have made advances in creating more useful stem cells from adults, possibly negating the need for embryonic stem cells, so issue #1 could go away but issue #2 is here to stay.
Personally I think that its going to happen regardless. It is probably a good thing that it is kept at a slow pace, so we can develop a generally agreed societal ethic. If I get in a car crash and sever my spinal cord, I would certainly like to go to the hospital and regrow one - but then again I don't want my kids to be living in bad science fiction movie. _________________ What you got back home, little sister, to play your fuzzy warbles on? thats sort of my thing, if i break my neck or something, i would like to know that there is some hope, and right now thats stem-cells. Cloning, doesnt work too well and i dont think it really ever will work, a cows a cow, but i doubt you could clone a human, and they could be using that wasted time helping someone else in need.
and even though abortion isnt good, people are still going to do this until it is illeagal, and even though its not the best way to have a baby for use, i think it would be ok to do it, but you shouldnt have an abortion just because you want stem cellls. |

I really wish I knew more about the subject but I am not a fan of killing a life for helping another one (personal opinion) _________________ Not for fame or praise

I agree that "human cloning" is a slippery slope and I don't see enough benefits to outweigh the problems that come with it....however I do thoroughly support the idea of cloning organs or limbs for those who need it. I don't think I could every support the cloning of a whole human being for any reason.
I do favor abortion except for the digusting people who use it as a form of birth control. Those people shouldn't be allowed to have intercourse until they at least get a better form of education. I also don't agree with abortion AFTER the beginning stages of pregnancy. Must be within a few weeks or never.
I have a serious overpopulation concern and I totally believe in the "Idiocracy" theory. For those who have never seen the movie...basically the dumbest people reproduce by accident on a constant basis and smart people either wait for the right time or never have children....so eventually the idiots completely outnumber the smart ones and make the planet WAY worse. _________________ www.myspace.com/thenewaffliction
