Yeah. I don't use Nylon anymore. Not because they're bad, but because I switched to an A custom Ping ride, a nylon tip makes it TOO pingy...where a wood tip is JUST right for bringing out the sound. If you're using a washier cymbal, a nylon tip is good for getting a bit more 'ping' out of it. I'm pretty happy with the sticks I'm using now, so I won't switch back.
However, if there IS an issue with tips popping off, they make ALL nylon sticks too, which are decent (I used to have a pair back in the day). Which might be worth your while. _________________ "I'm not dumb, I just have a command of thoroughly useless information" - Calvin of Bill Waterson's "Calvin and Hobbes" |

| I use an A Custom ping ride, too (a big 22"), but I kind of like that crazy amount of ping when using nylon tipped sticks. I also have a medium 18" crash that I sometimes use as a ride if I want a washier, drier ride sound, though. The nylon tips sound great on it. |

That WOULD be a crazy amount of ping...far more than I desire!
Guess that's why it's a subjective art, eh? _________________ "I'm not dumb, I just have a command of thoroughly useless information" - Calvin of Bill Waterson's "Calvin and Hobbes" |

In the words of Jethro Tull, that ping ride is Thick as a Brick and doesn't crash worth a hoot, but it sure does sing and articulate like no other. It's a great contrast to the crash/ride. Going from a rock rhythm on the ping ride to a jazz rhythm on the crash/ride will make anyone's ears perk up. Fun stuff. |

Been using nylon tips for years, I prefer them. Had one or two come off, but had more wood tips bust than nylons come off. I go with the statistics, especially after a bad wood-tip hit/split on a crash went to the tom and punched through it. _________________ Currently an OSP DD-502 mkII electronic.
