Ok heres another question for ya.

1. What does it mean when somone describes a cymbal, head, drum or whatever theyre talking about as sounding wet or dry?

2. When I use my bass pedal it hits once then hits its again am i not moving it away from the head fast enough or what, ive tried tightening/loosening the spring tension on the pedal but it doesn't help any

3. I just bought a china but when I try to mount it upside down my wingnut wont fit inside that little bell thing on top of it. Do they sell some smaller wingnuts?

4. I just got a china and a splash but dont know what the heck to do with them does anybody know some rock songs that use them in the song?

5. What difference does it make if the front head on your bass has a hole in it?

6. I have a crash/ride but cant get a good ride sound out of it is their some special spot you are supposed to hit or a certain way you are supposed to hit it?

Thanks in advance for the help.

ok...

1. with drum heads the more wet they sound the more of a fuller deeper tone. With cymbals it refers to ring and sustain.

2.Your jsut getting rebounds becaue of the way springs work. if you keep your foot on the pedal board then it cant bounce back. so hit it and keep your foot on the board with enough pressure to control movement.

3. You dont necessarilly need to buy a wing nut from a drumshop go pick one up at a hardware store. unless its one of those plastic ones with the sleeve built onto it then i would say just go to the loacl music store and ask about it.

4. Chinas and splashes are effects cymbals they generally arent used alot in the course of a song. They are thrown in every now and then. just use it when you feel it fits. Mike portnoy uses splashes in a bunch of songs along with alot of other people in the progressive genre. As for chinas they are somtimes used for rides in metal music becasue they are so deep. It better to jsut find applications for them on your own with what you like. there is no wrong time to use them.

5. There inst that big of a diffrence other than it elimates some resonance off the front head they are mostly jsut used for micing situations.

6. From my experience crash rides tend to suck as ride cymbals you should buy a nice ride as a primary ride that has a sound you like and jsut use that crash/ride as a crash. As for playing it, it jsut depends on how you want it to sound. if you play alot of fast paced loud metal/rock type stuff you'll just want to hit alot near the edge or around the bell. for lighter stuff play in the middle to the bell. its jsut all about getting the sound you want. there is really no set way to play a ride cymbal.
