| What I'd like to know is HOW does one tell if he has sound focus rings on a drum? I called Tama and was told by tech support that the shell is thicker at the ends of the drum. Does that mean the shell is tapered/graduated at the ends or is there a seperate strip of wood mounted on top of the inner shell???? Per the tech "it's just thicker." (edit) OK, I looked at the inner shell and don't actually see anything that would lead me to believe I have a thicker shell right before the bearing edges. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this? Is there -any- identifying marks, etc., that would inform me that I have SF rings? TIA |

There's the shell, then at the top and bottom are wooden rings inside the shell that are very clearly defined. There's no tapering. If they're there, you'll see them. _________________ Tama Starclassic Exotix I (Chestnut) custom kit

Thanks. I should know better than to ask a company's own tech-support people about thier own products! Indeed, it appears I do not have the rings. Thanks again. _________________ Kit: Starclassic Maple in Brown Fade; ddrum3 Turbo brain and pads; Roland TD-6V; Roland CY-8 crash, CY-15R ride, Pintech China ecymbals; Sabian & Zildjian cymbals; Tama and DW hardware.
