Anybody playing these? I'm thinking about building a kit around my Elvin Jones snare drum and want some feedback from you folks. I don't know if the kit will be maple or birch.

As the new owner of a Stage Custom Advantage kit, I can only dream of owning Absolutes one day!

When I saw one of the high-end Yamaha's (a Maple Custom) in a store recently it looked beautiful. My guess is that you couldn't go wrong with Yamaha's top shelf gear.

I just ordered a Yamaha Maple custom Absolute 5.5x14 snare with die cast hoops and black sparkle finish. Can't wait to get it.

I will, My current pic's are up in the dog house pic thread, page 10. I'm adding quite a bit to my kit so i'll be posting new pic's when everything comes in. Unfortunately the Gibraltar Rack I ordered is on back order so I won't have that until mid April, bummer.

BEAUTY snare, Premier. Nice purchase. You went with the 7x14" rather than the 5.5x14"? Any particular reason? More bottom end?

Yeah more bottom end is nice, but the main reason is it was going to take 3 months for me to get a 5.5x14 in the black sparkle finish. Any way I already have my Premer birch 5.5x14 and the Pearl steel 5.5x14

By the way this snare is loudddddddd.

Hey Premier, that is one very nice snare. I love the lugs on that model drum. Have fun with it!
