Hey guys, Everytime I go to the studio with my band I can do good fast double bass pretty much without a problem. At the studio they have DW 5002 pedals, then when I come back to my house and try to play it on my Iron Cobra and I can't do it half as fast. This is because of the pedals right? Well anyway, my birthday is coming up and I don't know if I should keep my pedal and just lube it up or something or buy a DW 5002 or 9002. Money is NOT an issue, I just want to know flat out which one will allow me to do the fastest double bass with less effort. Please help...

The problem is not that the 5002s are THAT much better then your Iron Cobras (however they may be), but rather one pedal is better tuned then the other. One pedal can play DRASTICALLY different then another, just based on beter throw (how far you extend them), spring tension, and both of these in relation to the other. Making your pedals feel perfect/balanced under your feet is an art form all in of itself. You might try fine tuning your cobras as see what happens.

As for the choices listed, the DW 9002 is the best pedal on the planet, hands down. But once again, if you set the pedal up poorly, it will still play poorly.

Yeah I second that on the finely tuned comment.

I found that adjusting the beater weights on my Iron Cobra's made a very noticable difference with response.

Hey guys, you said I can "finely tune" my pedal to make it better... What can I do to make it a lot smoother and faster like the DW pedals? What do I have to do with the springs and such? Thanks.
