Just because its in an account doesnt mean its spendable, Only some of it is stocks and bonds the majority of it is trusts which is kinda like a savings account but you can only spend it for certain purposes.

I wont elaborate because its kinda embarassing but my dads uncle is mentally retarded and their is like 300,000 dollars set up in a trust that can only be spent on him IE medicall bills clothing the bill from the place he is at etc.

However the 300,000 between my dad & great grandma is in 2 checking accounts which can be spent on whatever but it is mainly used for her 2,000 dollars a month rent at the assisted living place she is at.
