| Everyone tell me which you prefer between the DW Delta II double bass pedals and the Tama Iron Cobra double bass pedals. Please don't reply unless you have played one or both pedals. |

| Hey man! First off, I must say that if anyone ever bought me either of those pedals, I would be bouncing off the walls for weeks. They're both well designed and have many pluses. Out of personal preference, I'd probably go with the Iron Cobra, just because it plays like liquid. The other reason simply is that the DW pedals tend to be a bit more expensive. |

Thanks, I tend to agree on the price, but I want to make sure I'm not missing out if I go with the Tama. It seems to be more technologically advanced, yet DW seems to win all the awards and endorsements. It confuses me.

I think one of the big differences between the two is that the DW pedal has alot more bells and whistles that go with it, including meters measuring spring tension, weights, heel-height adjustments and other little fine-tuning things. I guess it can also boil down to the question of "what do I really need?" If you want the ability to have a HUGE range of adjustibility, then go with the DW. I personally have a Pearl Eliminator (If I ever had a chance to go back in time, I would have bought the Cobra) and it can be nice to have alot of adjustibility. On the other hand, the more factors there are to adjust means the more chances that you might make your pedal more uncomfortable.
I'd just say go to the store, fiddle around with both, adjusint everything until you come to the final decission about which you really want. If you go cheaper with the Iron Cobra, though, I don't think you'll be dissapointed. |

I'm concerned about price, too. I like dw, but yes, they are spendy. I found a 4000 series double beater pedal for $150. What do you think of that? Is it a good choice or should I spend the money and get some better ones? The dw 7000 series model is only $200.

I tell people this all the time... its not the pedel that gives you fast feet, its practice.. any pedel will do the trick unless you have a bad spring or somthignlike that. That being said, I have a pearl elimator and I always thoguht iron cobras were supposed to be amazing so I was saving up for one, and than I had a chance to use one at a show...
I couldnt stand it, it was too soft you couldnt feel how hard you were stepping on the pedel it was like air... that may sound good but I found it distracting, but Ive never played a DW pedel so i can't really compare but im happy with my Elminator _________________ ~Fonz~ |

That's odd, I played a decade-old DW double pedal in good condition and it was MUCH harder to play than my new Eliminator. I can tell you that it DOES make a difference. If it didn't, they wouldn't be working to improve it so much!
I will agree, though, that technique is important, but I won't say that the type of pedal has nothing to do with ease of playing. |
