Can anyone lend some advice:

My snare's recently started playing up - the snares buzz on long after the actual hit, and it's ruining the performance sound, as the clarity's completely gone! i've replaced the batter head since, but it hasn't made a difference. I've also tried repositioning the snares, and trying varying tightnesses, but i can't seem to get rid of the buzz.

Should i replace the reasonant head? has anyone got an idea why the snares are buzzing so much when not so long ago they were just fine?

Regards,
Inferno

Something is causing the longer buzz. Try putting some sort of muffler on the batter head to see if that is the problem. Other things could be resonant frequencies from loose lugs etc. Check all that out.

I would replave the resonate head and snares. If they still buzz too much for you, try putting a small piece of tape over one end of the snares.

so far i've got some moongel pads on the batter, but they haven't helped the buzz very much - i think it may be the reasonant head, so i'll try replacing it with a new one.
thanks for your suggestions, and if there is anything else you think i should try, please respond,

before doing any muffling or replacing, try different tunings. i was having a similar problem, until i found the bringing both heads pitch closer together lowered extra buzz quite a bit. check other drums tuning as well. i would try replacing the snares first, and then the head if necessary.
