I saw the standard cymbal pack at musician.com for 107 bucks. I was wondering if this would be good for a begineer/intermediate. I comes with a seprate crash and ride which is why i liked it. Any comments, questions, suggestions are welcome=). (anything cheaper too would be nice
I'm also looking at a gretsch blackhawk since its only 279 bucks..or i could get a pearl forum( i think) that they have at guitar center that comes wit everything for 599since they're having a extravaganza sale |

| Pearl cymbals are the equivalent of sabian B8's so they are good beginner intermediate cymbals. As far as the set goes, I would recommend that you get the pearl, the blackhawk sets seemed a little flimsy. If you have the money to get the pearl you may also want to check out Tama swingstars and the mapex venus series drums. Hope I helped. |

the rides are actually quite good, i preferred them to many "big namers"...the hi hats pretty much suck but are durable...and the crashes are worse than getting biscuit tin lids.....
they are awful...but the ride is def. recommended |

Personally, I wouldn't touch the Pearl Cymbals with a 15 foot drumstick. They might blemish the drumstick....
I honestly would recommend anyone to start at the ZXT. |

I have the Pearl Cymbals at the moment, they're alright for a beginner but they're getting a bit annoying for me. The basic Pearl cymbals are the same as the Sabian Solar range. _________________ >>>Carpe Diem<<< |

I would go with the Pearl Forum set. The Pearl cymbals are a step down from the Sabian B8's IMHO. If you want something just a little bit better and pretty much in that same price range....I would try the Sabian B8 Pro's.
What is the best choice...as always, IMHO....is to just live with those until you can save up enough to get into the Sabian AA series, or something along those lines.
If you're interested,..you can go to www.sabian.com and you can listen to all the different lines of cymbals they have! |

Hi, Lady Drummer!
I have long been agonizing over what (1) cymbal to get first and have played the sounds at Sabian and Zildjian. One thing I like about Sabian is that they have more than just a crash; they have choke hits and sometimes strokes, or rolls. But it looks like recently Sabian and Zildjian have revised their sites... fewer selections to listen to.
