| I am an intermediate level drummer and Ive had the same old crap kit for a while now and am looking to upgrade. I am dead set on a yamaha stage custom fusion but I am looking for a wood snare and I know its trivial but I would really like to get it in one of the matte finishes. Ive shopped around and it seems that the standards have a steel snare while the advantages have the wood snare but only offered in the glossy finish. I have seen the nouveau kits offered in the matte finishes so whats the difference in the nouveau and the advantage. From the pictures the toms look a little deeper on the advantages then the nouveau but its hard to tell. Could anyone explain the difference between the two to me?... |

That's right. I have the Stage Custom Advantage in clear lacquer finish with wood snare. I've seen the Standard version in the store and the matt finish is not noticeably different unless you're up close.

The Stage Custom Nouveau has:
- different lugs - they are similar to the higher end Nouveau kit lugs but have a plastic casing. These lugs allow you to change heads without completely removing the screws and possibly dropping the washers;
- option of birch or oak outer ply. Birch outer ply is gloss finished and the Oak outer ply is matt finished, and fewer colours available.
The Nouveau catalog is available here |
