I was thinking of buying Mapex SW6225 Saturn Pro 6 Piece Studio drumset. The only problem is, ive never played a Mapex kit before. Its theyre 3rd series (kinda like the Tama Rockstar Custom series) and costs about $1300. It has a pretty good review on Music123.com, but im still not sure. So, if anyone has played a Mapex, please let me know.
Thanks,

I own a mapex m series... I'm jealous, the saturns are great, they're at about a semi-pro level, pro being orion. then there's the custom deep forest stuff which is uber-pro/just won the lottery
but yeah i've had my mapex for years and i love it, i don't think you'll be disapointed in it at all. excellent finish, excellent hardware, they're beautiful kits _________________ I hate you, Milkman Dan. |

The Saturn Pro is an interesting kit. The shells are a combination of maple and walnut. The walnut is supposed to provide depth and bottom end, while the maple gives projection and clarity. I've never played one of these kits, but I'm fairly curious about them. It seems like that combination might make some pretty nice shells.
BTW, I've heard that both the M and Pro M Series kits are now 100% maple. Is this correct? If so, that's a pretty darn good deal for all maple shells. |

yeah, but that drove the price up to 200 bucks on each of those kits... maybe in time it will fall... I was looking at new 6pc studio kits then they just phased them out.. I bought a older Mars kit 6pc... i love it.
we just moved into a room with better sound qualities.. man, my drums sound awsome!. _________________ Mapex Mars 6 piece - Pert Paragon Cymbals |
