|
|
Hello,
First post here. I just upgraded to an Iron Cobra hat stand that I bought used on Ebay. I was under the impression that on the Iron Cobra the lower hat was secured to the hat stand. The stand that I got has no wing nut to secure the lower hat, so it just sits there on the the felt.
Is there supposed to be some mechanism to secure it, or is it just fine the way it is?
Thanks in advance!

| I don't think I've ever seen a hat stand in which the bottom cymbal was secured. The ones that I've seen just have the cymbal placed on the felt, as you describe. Maybe the Iron Cobra stand is different, though. |

No, the Iron Cobra stand is the same as any otherr Hi Hat stand in that regard (This is the stand that I have on my kit) The reason that you don't secure the bottom cymbal to the stand is because if you do, it won't have any give when you hit it, and it will crack. Also, most Hi Hat stands (as well as the Cobra) have an adjustment so you can angle the lower cymbal, you wouldn't be able to do this if the cymbal was attached. _________________ Guns don't kill people... The bottom hihat cymbal just sits on a cushion of stinky when wet felt.

i just bought the double bass pedal and i've had the joy of player it with the hi hat stand (my friend lent me his) and they are absolutley amazing! i'm gonna buy one this summer when i go back to the UK but yeh in answer to your question i've never seen a hi hat stand with a wing nut to secure the bottom hat. my present yamaha stand just lets the hi hat sit on the felt washer _________________
