So here's a question... I've been considering buying a Mapex Pro M Series 5 piece. I'm looking through Midwestpercussion.com, and I notice they have a Mapex M Series All Maple 5 piece for almost the exact same price as the regular Mapex Pro M...
Which is the better buy? Even with the all maple shells, would the set still be inferior, or would they be about the same?
Thanks to any and all feedback. _________________ Pure intention

In no way will the non all maple M series kit be inferior. You'll get a bit of extra tone and sustain with the all maple kit though............... _________________ CHECK OUT MY BAND IN THE WEBSITE OPTION BELOW-IF YOU LIKE HARDCORE/PUNK/DEATH METAL/GRIND/NOISE..

I think the M is 6 ply and the Pro M is like 7 play crushed or some goofy thing...
I have a old Mars kit and I love it...
Its up to you if you want to the spend the extra cash and need the extra equiptment it comes with.. i think the Pro M comes with an extra cymbal stand over the M. _________________ Mapex Mars 6 piece - Pert Paragon Cymbals |

The only difference between the hardware is that the Pro M has spring-loaded floor tom legs and a better bass drum pedal.
I'm just trying to figure out if the all maple shells will make the M sound better than the Pro M. _________________ Pure intention

are you looking at the old models or the new 04 models?
I know that MWP sells the older lines, and the M is Maple and another wood..
I would just say buck up and buy the 04 models, there BOTH all mapel.. I think their venus series is even Maple now. _________________ Mapex Mars 6 piece - Pert Paragon Cymbals |

aye. the new version of the pro m series is all maple shell the maple/basswood hybrids are being phased out.
im now considering buying the new all maple pro m instead of the force 3003 as i had planned. ill test them next to each other first though. |

I play a mapex pro m series and I'm very positive about it! it rocks
i've played many drumkits, but this is the best one so far. I think it's a lot better than a tama rockstar or stuff like that!! |

| I played a mapex pro m series the other day and I just fell in love with their sound so I am lookink for a pro m to buy. However, I called sam ash and they said mapex is upgrading their drums so the pro m are not going to be available until the new series comes out. What is the difference between the old and new one and is there a possibility to find the older ones at a cheaper price? |
