Yamaha stage custom...maple??

Hi
I was recently told by a guy @ a local music store that the yamaha stage custom is a maple kit, but when i checked out their site i see that the site has it as a phillipine mahogany kit with 1 ply of birch?
The only maple kit i see is the "maple custom" kit!
Any thoughts guys?
