I just got a Mapex Pro M standard size about three months ago. So far I really like it and have no complaints about it. I think you are better off getting the fusion size like you said. The Mapex is a good all around set and suits my needs.
On the other hand I have also heard many good things about the Sonor kit. So basically I would sugest either the Mapex or the Sonor. Go to a drum store and check out both. Then you will know which one you like better.
Either way all three of thoses sets are qaulity intermediate sets so you will have a decent set no matter which one you get. Get which one you like the best, and the only way to know that is to go play them.
Good luck with getting your new set!

| I recently bought a Sonor Force 2001, and it sounds brilliant, mind you, thats not the kind of Sonor you want, but still, Sonor, so far is the only brand I've seen who puts maple in there drums at the lowest level kit. I highly recommend Sonor, they sound very good. I mean, Danney Carey and Thomas Lang both use Sonor for a reason. |

I've recently become convinced that I should get a Pro M.
Does anyone have any colour preferences in the Pro M?
Might sound shallow but these things count once you know what kinda kit your getting. |

Keep in mind Carey's kit is a custom made bronze shelled kit so its not like any of sonors commercially available kits. Thomas Lang would play a mickey mouse set if Disney paid him to. That being said...Sonor kits do tend to be very nice quality...but so do Mapex _________________ One time i went to the dentist and he messed up so i put the gel on my gums. | I know, so does Tama, and that Bronze kit that Danny uses is Paiste, but he also uses a Sonor kit. |
