I have been playing promark 747s for a LONG time, and decided to try a new stick becuse the last 10 or 15 pairs of promarks have been breaking like twigs... So I tried the following:

Vater 3A "fatbacks" nylon tip

These things are awesome! Great balance, perfect weight, perfect size, and 2x more durable then my old promarks.

TRY THESE GUYS.

Vater is by far my favorite stick company. I used to use the Power 5b's and they were excellent. Now i have switched to the normal 5b's, but still...i love the way that the Vater wood feels, unlike pro Mark, they don't feel dried up and don't cause half as many calousses on your hands.

Vic Firth's are pretty good too.

I recently switched to 1As. I tried Vater's and Vic Firth's. I liked them both but went with the VFs because 1) they're easier to find and 2) they're a tiny bit shorter and thinner.

I just bought my first pair of Vaters--Fusion. Slickest darn sticks I ever tried to use. How do you hang onto these things?

I myself have been playing PM's 747's for the longest time. How comparable in size are the 3A's and the 747's? My problem is that I go through the 747's quite fast, and if I can get a more durable stick, then I may go with the 3A's
