I'm in like a $600-950 budget, what do you think would be the best? I was just playing hte new export selects, they are such an improvement from the old kind of exports, i don't know about the the poplar shells, i've never seen that on drums, whats that about?

For that amount, I would probably go for a Mapex M or Pro M.

Well....i own a PDP kit and i TOTALLY love it!!
Im not sure which kit you can get in your budget but i have the bottom kit (the birch) kit (FS series) and i love it, the higher kits are amazing as well....just go in and bash on the kits for a while man!!
Buy the kit that makes your jaw drop open!!!!

You definetaley get more for your buck with the pacifics. I hate mapex, but that's just me. Pearl can make some good drums, but i've never been thrilled with their lower models. I don't like pacific's hardware very much, but I think their drums are way better than the others.
