Can anyone help?
I do a lot of brush work and the heads get smooth fast. There used to be
a product I believe called "Ruff Coat" that was a spray and it gave the heads a texture feel and a new sound. Anyone know where I can get
a can of it or something like it?

I've went through so many depths just for snare skins! one time I had no money for a snare skin, and had a spare 14'' skin, and used that! It sounded like.... a Chad Sexton signature snare. It was pretty *Golly Gee*' awesome. (note: tune high)

Have you tried Remo Fiberskyn heads? I just bought a snare head a few weeks ago and it seems to be holding up pretty well thus far. They are heavily textured, but the texture comes from the way the heads are laid up, as opposed to a toothy sprayed-on coating. My impression is that they've tried to match the surface of a calf skin head with synthetic materials.
