Does anyone have any information on these drums? Like when they were made?

As far as I know, they were a cheap Chinese import that Gretsch imported. I have a snare that is a "Blackhawk" by Gretsch and it has a "made in China" sticker on it. I brought it to our local drum shop to be looked at cause I thought I would have it repaired and parts replaced. It was missing the bottom hoop and heads and screws. The owner of the shop told me that it wasnt worth fixing up because the parts were more than it was worth. He is a reputable dealer and I trust his word. I just gave it to him for parts. He has done the same for me in the past. That is about all I know about them.
Cheers, AU2

I used/use one and i love it. Sure its the lowest model but with some nice heads you got yourself an inexpensive reliable kit. I would definetly recommend it if your starting out or want to try something new.

Blackhawks are entry level kits of Gretsch, you guys are right saying that these are cheap, but actually really value for money kits for beginners and budget drummers alike. Especially the ones made in Taiwan which have superb workmanship, the current blackhawks are now made in China and not as great but still pretty good. In our country, this is one of the leading entry level drums eventhough it costs a lot here because its better than the other entry level drums of other brands.

Just my two cents guys!

I got a Blackhawk kit in the 80's it was my first new kit and I loved it. It sounded great until my practice warehouse in NY burned to the ground with them in it!
