Well, I went into the Guitar Center to check out some rides, and you wouldn't believe what I saw! I didn't believe it myself! 12" Wuhan China's for $10! $10!!!! I was just walking out of the store when I saw it, so I darted back to the drum section and tried out 5, and bought one. It now proudly stands where my trash cymbal once did! ::bows::[/u]

Well, it's higher pitched, as it is a smaller model. Still, it does have that trashy bite that I like. I'm not sure how else to describe it, but perhaps at some point, I'll get around to posting a sound byte of it.

Cool

Ahe, that's a great purchase!

I'm looking forward to hearing the trashy bite, if possible.

$10 for a cymbal; kule.

In china's i like very little sustain. I like the china to have a nice trashy "whoosh" kinda sound. I don't know how to explain it, but if i could choose one it's probably be a Sabian AA Fast China, sweeeeeeet.

An interesting thing I've found is that even if the china has some quiet sustain for a lil while afterwards, it's sometimes not even noticed, as it blends into the other instruments, so in effect, you just hear the initial crash.

Yeah, I saw it too on Musicains Friend.com and I was planning on buying a 14", but then I saw it for $29.99 so I said what the hell? I can buy 3 12"s for this price, so I didnt thought I need 3 of them, so I bought 2, one for now and when this one will die, Ill replace it..... Very cool Smile its high pitched and I dont think its thrashy enough, but its pretty cool Smile

Hey Sauren, how tightly do you have your china on the cymbal holder? Do you let it fly around a little, or do you prefer your chinas to be more stationary?
Also, how loud is this cymbal? Does it completely cut through or give a more mellow accent (sort of like a punchier, trashier splash)? The reason I ask is because I have a 16" Wuhan, and I was just wondering how much different the 12" is. My 16" has a fairly high pitch and short sustain. It's very punchy and surprisingly loud. BTW, if you ever see a good deal on a 20" or 22", definitely try it out if you don't already have one. The bigger Wuhans sound fantastic. I have a 20", as well my 16", and I love it. It has a great shimmer and longer decay. It sounds awesome on off-beats during a ride pattern, a la Neil Peart.

for 10$ i'd buy ANY non-broken cymbal, I'd be an idiot NOT to. Even the worst symbals of the worst cymbal line aren't that cheap.

the way i install my china is upside down and I use what they (GC ppl) call aquarian springs.
They tighten in a circle so your axials don't obstruct the china cymbal.
Anyways, they're real sturdy and cost about $15/piece which is quite expensive in my opinion.

But anyways, they sounded pretty nice I think and I enjoy them v. much for $10 Smile

Waiting for my 18' china to arrive, can't wait to tell how different it sounded.

The Wuahns are really different! I tried them in Guitar Center and I tried the 12", 14", 16" and 18"! One after each other to hear the differences and theyre really different ! even the 12" and 14" are really differnet, its different sounds, if youll get like even all of them, they wont sound the same, also because theyre handmade and each cymbal is different and also because of the different sizes....

Because of the nature of the wingnuts on my stand, the cymbal remains much more stationary than my other cymbals. I may eventually opt to get the Aquarian cymbal spring so that some of the bell's stress will be aleviated.

The sound can really range, depending on where I hit it, and how I hit it. I've done everying from crashing on it to playing latin patterns on it.

The zildjian 18' china sounded real different than the wuhans.
i personally like the wuhan's better, but some of my friends prefer the zildjians.

The zildjians are huge though so I don't need a 2nd aquarian spring, prolly just another stand....

How are your felts set up with your china? Two on the top and one on the bottom is what I see most often.
