| Anyone know what size he used? I saw the Zep DVD and it looks like he's using the smaller 7a or b sticks. |

Man on that Zep DVD when you go to the Denmark Radio Show Bonzo looks like he's using pencils! But he chokes up on his sticks so much that it gives it that illusion. If my eyes don't fool me I'd say they are smaller 5Aish 5B maybe. As for the other sections, I couldnt tell you what size. All I know is that the most impressive drumming is on the Denmark section |

Is the Denmark thing on the Led Zeppelin DVD? _________________ Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter. |

yes, the Danmarks Radio show is on there, as is the Tous En Scene, and Supershow, all listed under "Extras" (see dvd box below) and those three alone are worth the price of admission.
When you add Royal Albert Hall and Earl's Court shows, this dvd is worth every penny. You'll see footage you didn't know existed of the band, and Bonham is shown plenty too!

i read a Zeppelin book back maybe 15 years ago, I forget the name of it right now but i'm sure its a well known one...anyway bonzo played 'the largest and heaviest stick available'....i don't know if it was 2as or what, but they were heavy duty. Also keep in mind John bonham was 6'4 250 so those sticks may look like 5a's in his hands.. _________________ "The more control you have of the instrument, the more confidence you will get and the more you will be able to express your ideas; Technique is only good if you can use it musically." -J.M. |

I have held a pair of John Bonhams Used sticks in my hand...They were a pair of Ludwig 2A's which were about 15 and 3/4 inches long by .625 in.
They were heavy and plied (not solid) I think the plys were hickory...
They are not made by ludwig anymore... _________________ http://customdrumsticks.com |

He has a signature line by Zildjian. Jason had to start out with what ever Pop's had laying around. Someone stated that he may have used 2b's!
That may explain that monster snare sound Big John had. _________________ In The Beginning God Made Drum! |

Why yes I do know for a fact what sticks John used.
I got in touch with Ludwig artist relations last year and
asked this very question........drum roll please...........
According to Ludwig they supplied John with 5A's early
on in his career and towards the end he went to 5B's.
I don't remember who I spoke with but he did the research
and found the paper work from an old order. I have also seen
a pair of used sticks that were beat to hell so you couldn't read
anything on the sticks but they did look to be 5A's or 5B's. I had
always thought he used bigger sticks but I guess not. _________________ Gear That Makes Me Proud: Tama drums, Dunnett snare Drums, Ludwig Supraphonic
