i like how 7A's are thin and flickable but i'd like something a little longer, but still nice and thin. isn't there like 8D or 8B or something of the sort?

Yes, Vic Firth makes an 8D which is as thin as a 7A but 16" long (I personally love the American Sound series in 8D).

Vater makes the Manhattan 7A which is the same as a VF 8D in size, although I'm not too certain about the feel (I don't play Vater).

ProMark makes the 733 which (at least according to their site) seems to be the right size as well.

The VF American Sound 8D is indeed a very nice stick.
