After seeing Corky Laing (sp?) use mallets on his cymbals and toms I thought it sounded pretty cool and want to get me a set of mallets to mess around with.
So can somone recomend the right set of mallets for this purpose, I was looking on musicians freind but their are so many different kinds of them I wouldnt know which ones would be the right kind. _________________ Sometimes rude, sometimes nice - say something I dislike and pay the price |

Umm...I have to admit, I never really got that far into the orchestral percussion stuff, so I'm not sure if there's a proper mallet for suspended cymbals. I just grab any pair of mallets out of my stick bag, whether it's a timpani mallet or marimba mallet (usually timpani though, esp. if I'm gonna play on the toms too). I have Vic Firth timpani mallets (general head), but I think they suck. Check Mike Balter's Website and see if they make anything. Calato's Saul Goodman timpani mallets are pretty good too.
If you think Musician's Friend carries a lot of mallets, check out Steve Weiss Music. _________________ "Hipness is transient. You've got to change in order to be continually hip." --Vinnie Colaiuta |

| A pair of general timpani mallets will probably give you the sound you want. |

or even cymbal sticks. They are heavier than timpani mallets but a little softer so they make a warmer sound. _________________ The Silvertones |

Chalklin.
Regal Tip.
Both these companies make a very good selection. _________________ Did the inventor of the "Flat Ride" win the "No Bell" Piece Prize ??
