My band and I will be doing some home 4 track tape recording in a few weeks, and I only have about 150 dollars to spend on new mic's.

My question is, with the mics I have, which ones should I use for what drums, if any, and what mics should I get with the remaining funds?

My mic's include:

Electro voice PL80

Electro Voice PL91

AKG D 1000 E

Shure AR101

Any advice would be amazing.

this could be tough. i cant find anything at all on any of those mics but the AKG... that one looks like a good all around mic, that you could do pretty much anything with except mic the bass drum. youre really strapped for mics, and for cash to buy more, so it might be tough and take some fiddling with the setup to get it right. you dont have enough mics to put one on each drum, so i would say put one near the snare, one on the left kind of above the hihats and maybe also picking up some other cymbals, and then the other 2 youll probably have to put above the kit in a position so that you can get all your cymbals, and all your toms. i think you should invest your cash in a microphone made for bass drums. you should be able to find a decent one in your price range... i know musiciansfriend.com has a whole thing on micing drums, and picking mics to do so... click help at the top, and then search for "bass drum mic" and i believe theres an article about it in there.
