Who has played (or owns) one of the newer Ludwig Classic Maples? What do you think of it? How does it compare to other top-of-the line drums that you've played?
Have you had a chance to compare the newer Classic Maples to the newer Classic Birches? |

| They are nice drums. They deffinately are not made as well as the ones that bonzo actualy playd. The interior of some of the shells have some minor flaws. Also the snare could be upgraded to the superaphonic that comes on the amber vistalite, and if you really want to spend some money go for the bronze one (bonzo often used bronze). I would go with the classic maple just because i love that set up (and bonham) but the classic birch is probably a good descision too. It all depends on the sound you are looking for. |

The new Classic Maples are great drums. I own 2 kits, one purchased new in 2000 and one that was used a few years later. I love both kits and gig and record with both. I often get compliments on how good they sound from people at gigs as well as from engineers in studios. They may not get the quality control you see in dw drums or something else high-end, but they are quality top line maple drums. The great thing about them is, you can practically steal a kit off of ebay because nobody cares or knows about them(the new Ludwigs, that is). This is a double edged sword....low resale value...something to think about. I don't care, though. I love mine. _________________ "No more beards." - Buddy Rich |
