Hi , I'am a new owner of a set of Lud's but not sure exactly what they might be . The finish appears to be black laquer, inside drum is ink stamped "296" (is this Feb/96)., it is a six pce, 24" , 10,12,13,16, 14" snare, heavy stands. I think they could be Rockers or Rockers Elite ?

80s modular hardware...can't tell if they're regular Luddy's or Rockers or what. You'd have to give us a closeup of the badge and lugs for that.

This kit sure has heavy hardware, although I'am sure that it is made in Tiawan. It also has Purecusion Rims Mounts.
Any thoughts ?????????????? Any one ? |

well, the snare is an LM 402. It's awesome no matter what year it's made. Undoubtedly a classic, I've played it for at least 10 years- my uncle played it for 35 years. I believe the LM 400 which is not as deep as that one is the most recorded snare drum in history. I can't really tell about the kit - take some pics of inside the drums and the badges. The tom mounts seem to make me think it's like a late 80's to 90's kit - but probably a higher end kit for them. Not really sure, I mostly mess with 60's era luddys. _________________ Nick Bertling

Yeah, the snare is "the bonham" snare. 6.5x14 Supra. Send some close ups of the toms and kick lugs, etc...

What you've got there are top of the line Ludwig drums from the '90's, not Rocker or Rocker Elite. They have the "Monroe" badge. They are date stamped Feb '96 as you said and they can be either "Classic" or "Super Classic" shells. The Classic shells were heavier, and a 6 ply maple/poplar mix, and the Super Classics were 4 ply, also maple/poplar. Count the plies and you'll know for sure. Nice drums! _________________ "No more beards." - Buddy Rich |
