I admit, I hit HARD, but I like having different varietes of cymbals.

Right now I have
-16" Zildjian rock crash
-16 Zildjian crash(i have no clue what kind it is, its old and my cuz who I got it from said it came from a pair of hand crashes, but it sounds STELLAR to my ears, it cuts thru all kinds of noise)
-19" Zildjian Suspended Crash
-20" Zildjian Ride.
-Sabian BBpro Hihats.

Now a little back ground ALL of my cymbals are OLD.. like 10+ years old... cept for the 1st crash, I HAD a 18" medium crash, but Im to freeking brutal on cymbals. It cracked pretty bad, enough tot take the sustain out of it.

Anyways, Im investing in a Wuhan 20" Trash/China this upcoming week, I owned a 22" Zildjian Trash and I LOVE the sound it produced, but I traded it not knowing what I had back when I was still in HS. I know that my other friend ended up with it. I also had a 16" dark crash from Sabian, and I liked the sound of it, but it was to thin for my style of playing so I sold it to my cuz who gave me that 16"... Im looking for a 17" to produce a darker sound, but it has to be able to take the abuse of a harder drummer. Im pretty broke due to being in school and I need a cymbal that will get a few years of playing outa it before it dies on me or one that will just take a beating like these older ones I have. The 19" is developing a smal crack, I use it for a crash ride, and I KNOW its gonna end up dying soon.

Ive been outa the game so long there are SO many brands of Zildjians(as you can see I am accostom to) to choose from.. I dont know what like will take a beating and not crack. Another drummer friend of mine cracked a A custom crash in a few years of hard hitting. I DO realize that cymbals will eventualy loose there flavor, but Im looking for something to get me thru the next couple years, I managed to destroy a 8" sabian splash, or one of my friends hit it wrong when they were playing and its now cracked to the point it makes no real sound.

Anyways Im done. Some one point me in the heavier direction lol.

If you're just looking for something durable, check out some Zildjian Z Customs or Sabian AA Metal-X crashes. I can't guarantee that you'll like the sound of heavier cymbals, but they will definitely cut through just about anything and last a very long time. If you're able to crack either one of these, I would be very surprised.

Hopefully bytor can back me up on this. You may want to check the "K" line from Zildjian. Supposed to have a darker sound and take a good beating. Then again, I could be wrong.

The Zildjian Ks are definitely a darker line of cymbals, but in some cases, durability may be an issue. Some models are thicker than others. Many of them do seem to last forever, but then again, most of the guys that play them are jazz or fusion players that probably aren't wailing on them like many rock/metal drummers might be. If you can find a thicker K, though, it should hold up very well, even for heavy hitters.

I think Im just gonna head up to Guitar center and do some sound tests. I know they have a back room I can go and beat on a kit in thats in a sound proofed room.. they have a rediculas amount of cymbals to choose from. I REALLy liked that Dark crash, but I KNEW that it wouldnt have lasted long for my style of playing. Il more then lilkly get one from Musicians friend or Ebay. Ebay has been calling my name, Im getting a Wuhan sometime this week, early christmas gift.. I opted out of a 30" tv for some music equiptment.

When I was in jazz band in HS I liked the K's we had because they were lighter and fit with the music. Even the normal Zild rock crash didnt have a sound I liked. My friend had one and It was ok, sounded better on a record then it did live.

Maybe I should post up a MP3 of me beating on my kit one day to let you guys hear what my old old kit sounds like.

Why not, thats how I did it before, I was just getting some opinions of some drummers.

Seeing as most sites that sell cymbals dont have sound bites.. although one Ebay add did, it was pretty niffty, but I would have still liked to play with it on my own.

Yeah, I hit harder then most ppl, I tend to destroy cymbals that are thinner, that was one of the reasons I got rid of my 16" dark crash, it felt like paper.

I acculy like the Projection Crash's and Metals the most.. but I think im gonna wait... there is a HUGe sale in March at this store in my area, everything is half off.. I can get one of those cymbals sub 100 after tax.
