I am thinking of selling my Pearl Maple kit to move to electronics so I can practice more. I like the Vdrum kit, and find the Roland sounds better than the Yamaha sounds. I was thinking of buying a Td8 with the PD80r pads, but they seem to small. What other optons do I have? The TD20 is way to expensive, and I heard the TD10's have problems with the module. Yet, the Td10 kit, come with the PD120 and PD100, which are nicer due to the size. What would you guys suggest?
Also, how does the quality of a PD80r compare to the older PD120's? Is one better than the other? How does the Td8 compare to the TD10?
Thanks! |

| If you are looking for real drum heads, a classy look and bigger playing surfaces on an electronic set, try RET Percussion. As for the brain, the TD-8 or 10 are both good choices. Depends on what you need. The TD-20 is really expensive but it does offer the dual-zones if you get a dual-zone compatible kit. I would go with a Roland module though - they do sound much better. |

| TD10 is no longer in production since it was replaced by the TD20. You can pick them up real cheap now. Keep in mind, if you buy a TD8 kit, you can always upgrade the pads. Almost all of the Roland stuff is interchangable. |

Depends on what you want. Real sounding drums or synthesized? For real go with ddrum4. For synth'ed go Roland, Yamaha, etc... I like Roland's new hihat but the TD20 is WAY overpriced IMO. You get a lotta bells and whistles that you'll play around with the first few weeks and then never seriously use again, and again, the sounds are synth'ed. You'd be better of with a TD8 if you want synth'ed or the ddrum4 for real sampled sounds. _________________ Kit: Starclassic Maple in Brown Fade; ddrum3 Turbo brain and pads; Roland TD-6V; Roland CY-8 crash, CY-15R ride, Pintech China ecymbals; Sabian & Zildjian cymbals; Tama and DW hardware. Playing for 27 years. Really! |
