I've been in love with this Supraphonic Snare. Now, I'm currently getting the cash to get either A.) Double Bass Ludwig with 2 rack toms, and 2 floor toms, or B.) As much as I can get from Starclassic.
Either I'm getting sick of Tama, or Ludwigs just...better. I've also been wondering about SONOR...
Sonor? Ludwig? Or Tama? _________________ "Screw all you little kids who conform to non-conformity! You are all sheep, and I am the dirty farmer!" |

Z,
Check out Ludwig's new Maple Classics. You'll switch. They're that nice (and a great value for the money). |

Well, yes, so I've been told. But I've also been told that Ludwig sucks, and that most of their set up's don't even have a good mounting system. Like... either it's on a snare stand or it's nailed into the drum.
I know most of these are just lies, but still...
How do the CS sound? _________________ "Screw all you little kids who conform to non-conformity! You are all sheep, and I am the dirty farmer!" |

Don't just believe what you're told. Check out the Ludwigs for yourself. I think you'll like them. And look at the prices. I don't think you'll find a better value for your money.
By the way, I've talked to a lot of people who swear by the Ludwig stands. They tell me it's cheap, sturdy, and light. But again, check it out for yourself. |

| Premier is nice, and if you want a custom kit, check out Pork Pie. But there are many great kits... you need to go and play them for yourself though, there is no substitute. |

I went to my local drumstore today....
They just brought in the John Bonham Reissue, I'm not buying it for fear that the owners will rip me off entirely again.
(I bought my first set which was Tama Rockstar, Paiste Dimensions ride and crash, with stands... 5 piece for $1,200.00 )
But, as I was saying... as a valued patron, they let me play on it.
They sound magical... they're louder then most drums. They're shiney... and... they... are delicious to the touch.
...if this is what the drums sound like with this material, I'm buying a *Golly Gee* Ludwig god damnit! _________________ "Screw all you little kids who conform to non-conformity! You are all sheep, and I am the dirty farmer!" |

Ludwig has some great drums. It is their hardware that is not so good. You can always get a Ludwig drum set and another brand of whatever hardware you need for pedals, stands, racks, and whatever else you need. (I have been looking at the newer Pro series bass drum pedal they came out with a while back. It looks a lot better than the other pedals they used to offer.) _________________ TANSTAAFL |

Yeah, I do like what Tama has to offer with their hardware... they're hard as a rock, in all reality. And the Iron Cobra's? Can't go wrong there buddy.
I was told that Ludwig has sturdy stuff too though...

| Nuttin wrong with Luddy! Industry leader back in the day and they still make nice kits. You really need to go do some hands on before dropping your hard to come by cash on a kit however! Look'em all over and find one you like. Buy used gear when you can. That'll save some cash for some extra stuff like more cymbals or new heads and sticks. Go to you local shop and play a few kits and then start pricing the ones you dig. And be sure to check pawn shops and the news paper for used stuff. Be patient! You'll find the perfect kit if you take time and look. |

I recently got myself a 6 pce Ludwig kit built in 1996. It came complete with pedals, stands, cymbals, anyway, I started playing them with the Ludwig bass pedal that came with them and found that I really like it. I have packed away the Tama I C. As far as quality of the Ludwigs go , I think it is top notch(I also believe with todays manufacturing abilities and equipment nobody builds bad gear). The only thing I've had to do is get another duffle bag to split the hardware up when gigging because the modular is heavy(one bag was close to the 100 lbs mark!) The sound of these things are unbelievable compared to my old kit.
Great drums |

I'm not sure I can agree with you about hardware E-Biff. Some companies are still making hardware that is pretty dang *poopy*. I know its terrible, but its true. I wish every company made good hardware. Stinking cheap skates. _________________ Drummer For Barred In Fifty States

stick with tama only if it suits you. it suits you and i never have a problem with my set and snare. sonor is really technical with their highg end stuff but the low end of their line isnt great. i think the ludwigs sound good if your into a wide open ringy drum sound (which im not) those ludwig vistalites are huge sounding drums though _________________
