Yes; there seems to be some people manufacturing Vistalite drum clones. In fact they are so sneaky that they don't put Ludwig badges on them. I would be carefull when buying any pattern Vistalite on E-Bay or single colored ones. They could be clones and not authentic Vistalite drums. The names are kind of twisted and cost of them are outrageous.

There was a thing on ebay about duplicated Vistalite and Rainbow Vistalite drums, in fact they had photo's of some of the obvious signs of clones on the market.

I would if I was paying good money for a Vistalite or Rainbow Vistalite pattern outfit, would definately want an authentic original one, so I could say that this is the real thing, not some clone duplicate.

Personally, unless your Donald Trump, I would plan to pay outrageous prices for a clone or even a whole set.

Vistalites drums are not Vistalite drums anymore!!

Be carefull if your want a authentic Vistalite set or single. You could be cloned!

I just repair and restore them. The originals, only.
Personally, I would buy a cool Fibes or Zickos acrylic outfit before I would buy a stinking clone!

Remember Zickos and Fibes have been doing for many many years, and Zickos is the originator, and they both are truly American Made acrylic drum outfits.

Making acrylic drums is a art, and making clones well, it your decision..

I wonder if Ludwig knows about it? Or do they really care? Probally not.
Seems like every TOM DICK AND HARRY are making their own acrylic drums, and who is to say were they purchased it or bought the shell from?

We all could make our own acrylic drum shells, if we wanted to spend the money and time to do so, but who wants too..

YOUR OPINION IS APPRECIATED..

PERSONALLY I WILL STICK WITH NEW DRUMS FROM DW, SONOR, LUDWIG, FIBES, ZICKOS, PEARL, TAMA, YAMAHA, GRETSCH, ECT. KNOWN NAMES NOT SOME AIR BISCUIT IN THE WIND BRAND WHO HAS NEVER BEEN HEARD OFF.

I agree that if someone lists something in a misleading manner, that's wrong. But it wouldn't be wrong just to sell them for what they are.
I still think that in the future, I'll probably get some sort of acrylic drums. When I have lots of money.

I'VE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THE TIVOLI VISTALITE SET IS ALSO BEING DUPLICATED AND NAMED TIVOLI. I'VE TALKED TO LUDWIG AND NO ONE IS SUPPOSED TO USE THE TIVOLI AS A VISTALITE SUBNAME. PLUS IT'S A NAME OF A COMPANY OUT OF EUROPE THAT IS A MANAGEMENT COMPANY. BUT SINCE LUDWIG NAMED THEM 'TIVOLI VISTALITES'. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT.
Surprised
FEEDBACK WELCOME!!!

I don't understand the issue here. I realize that if someone's selling a new drum and calling it a vintage Ludwig, that's wrong. But, these new acrylic shells are very similar, even superior to the original Ludwigs. I was under the impression that they're made by the same company that was making the original Ludwig shells. If we're talking about the gold-n-times shells that is.
It's really easy to tell the difference as these newer ones have a piece of acrylic glued to the inside of the seam for added strength. The old ones did not. Since we're not talking wood here or plys or any of that. Why would the old ones sound any different or be better, assuming that the bearing edges are cut the same?
Just curious....
Also, the prices of these new shells is fairly cheap. I think they're trying to sell a complete bonham color/size kit for around $600 or so. Add your own hardware and you're set. That's a lot cheaper than a vintage Amber kit with a 14/16/18/26, if you could even find one to begin with.

On those fake vista's they do put a fake Ludwig B/O badge on them. You can spot them as they area where the serial number goes has a "brushed" or grain to it. True Ludwig badges did not have this.
